SPOTLIGHT

Mai Ubeid, a smart engineer and a young Palestinian woman with a bright future, tragically lost her life in an Israeli airstrike, along with her family, during a Google-backed tech internship. Despite facing muscular dystrophy since childhood, Mai showed incredible strength and determination. She shared her inspiring story in a touching video with the Gaza Sky Geeks tech hub. Mai had a dream of starting a business to help people with disabilities, and her community came together to raise money for an elevator in her home to make it easier for her to get around.

Anam Raheem wrote a heartfelt tribute to Mai, reflecting on her tech journey, overcoming challenges, and the sadness of Mai's death, along with the ongoing struggles of the Palestinian people facing Israeli airstrikes, occupation, and blockades.

Ariel Koren also shared a thoughtful thread, pointing out the lack of action and acknowledgment from Google of the ongoing war and genocide in Gaza. Mai's memory lives on in the hearts of everyone who knew her, a reminder of her spirit and dreams.
