SPOTLIGHT
Tiffani Ashley Bell is the founder and executive director of The Human Utility, a non-profit organization that has been helping people pay their water bills for the past 10 years. Tiffani has played a crucial role in ensuring that thousands of families facing financial difficulties have access to water, acknowledging that water is a basic human right.
She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from Howard University in 2008. She was a Technology & Democracy Fellow at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government and worked as a Code for America Fellow. Using her experience, she built the Human Utility platform on her own. She recently completed her Master of Science in Management as a Sloan Fellow at the Stanford Graduate School of Business in 2021.
Recognized for her groundbreaking work, Bell has been featured in prestigious outlets like Forbes and NPR, highlighting her innovative approach to social entrepreneurship. Her insights and achievements have also been showcased in a TED Talk. She was voted as one of The Root's 100 Most Influential African Americans for her work protecting the right to water in 2015.
Beyond The Human Utility, Bell is a passionate advocate for diversity and inclusion within the tech industry, actively working to ensure that tech solutions are inclusive and reflective of the communities they serve.
